The goal of InChairTV’s patient presentations is simple – to tell people about the existence of new and exciting discretionary services that most do not know exist. And to do it in a fun, interesting, low-pressure way.

Many offices already have some sort of “patient education” product, which requires patients to watch a video or read a booklet about various oral health topics. The problem with these approaches is that they are, in a word, boring. And in marketing, boring is ineffective.

The best way to educate patients about your services is to do it using a medium that they are eager to watch – such as their favorite television show or movie. Advertisers have known this for a long time, which is why they spend millions of dollars to advertise during popular television shows, and not much on long lectures about their products.

The patient presentations we have created for InChairTV are basically short, entertaining commercials, mostly 30-45 seconds long, and play during the commercial breaks of the show or before the movie. Just like ads for cars or life insurance, the key is not to explain all the details of your product, but simply to introduce it to your customer and begin the conversation.

(If you don’t believe us, try this experiment: ask your patients whether they would rather watch a 10 minute video about gum disease or an episode of Seinfeld that includes traditional 30 second commercials, some of which are about dental products. So far, Seinfeld has won 100% of the time)
